“Wine can of their wits the wise beguile / Make the sage frolic, and the serious smile”
DOORS: 17:45 | EVENT STARTS: 18:00
In partnership with Rhapsody, Bristol’s Greek wine bar, we’re hosting an evening of Greek wine tasting inspired by Christopher Nolan’s recent adaptation of The Odyssey, as well as other adaptations of Homer’s epic poem and other Greek myths and legends.
This intimate evening begins with a welcome drink, before your co-hosts Christina (from Rhapsody) and Owen (from the Festival) guide you through Odysseus’ epic journey, sampling six wines from some of the real-life locations along the way, as well as exploring some of the classic film depictions of the story and how Greek mythology has found its way to the big screen over the decades.
Spaces are extremely limited, so book your seat today and embark upon your own voyage through the point where legends, wine and cinema collide!
NB: this is not a film screening; there will be images/clips to accompany the wine tasting
About The Hosts
Christina Kremmyda is the co-owner of Rhapsody Greek Wine Bar & Restaurant, as well as its sister restaurant Hat Bistro, as well as the boutique Greek wine importer Dionysos Cellars. Across all three businesses, Christina focusses on bringing authentic Greek flavours and culture to Bristol, which has been her mission for the past 15 years.
Owen Franklin is the founder and director of Bristol Film Festival, and is well-known for his talks at dozens of film screenings and events across the city every year. He’s also a wine enthusiast and student, holding a Distinction in WSET 3 and currently studying for his Italian Wine Diploma with the WSG.
About The Location
Indulge in the elegance of myth and melody at Rhapsody Wine Bar, Bristol’s first Greek wine sanctuary inspired by timeless tales and theatrical charm.
Nestled beside the city’s iconic theatres, Rhapsody offers a refined yet relaxed setting—perfect for pre-show indulgence, post-performance reflection, or an enchanting evening all on its own.
Savour rare Greek wines and artisan meze in an atmosphere where ancient myth meets modern sophistication. Whether you're gathering for an intimate toast or enjoying a quiet glass solo, each visit promises a journey through bold flavors, graceful storytelling, and the warm spirit of Greek hospitality.
The word ‘rhapsody’ speaks of an expressive, free-flowing piece of music, often passionate and improvisational, just like the spontaneous joy of good wine shared among friends. It also draws from the ancient Greek rhapsōidos, a reciter of epic poetry, echoing our roots in storytelling, culture, and deep tradition.
We share a kitchen link with our sister venue, Hat Bistro, allowing us to offer signature hot Greek dishes like Moussaka, Pastitsio, Giouvetsi, and Kleftiko - pairable with the perfect glass, of course.
