WATCHMEN at The Planetarium

  • The Planetarium We The Curious, Millennium Square, Bristol, BS1 5SZ United Kingdom (map)
‘Watchmen’ is a terrific comic-book movie, the most completely satisfying and unsettling one I’ve ever seen [...] Whatever liberties Snyder and his screenwriters may have taken, the film remains strikingly loyal to the governing spirit of Moore’s graphic novel

DOORS: 21:10 | FILM STARTS 21:30

We’re over the moon (pun intended) to present another stellar series of space and sci-fi screenings at the Planetarium at We The Curious for 2025!

Explore the Planetarium’s space gallery before the screening and see if you’re cut out for a life in space, then recline in this unique screening space. As the lights dim, your journey will begin with a tour of the Solar System in a Planetarium star show - the perfect way to set the scene for your film…

Our autumn programme at the Planetarium continues with a special screening of the Director’s Cut of Watchmen. Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Alan Moore, this gritty dystopian take on superheroes’ place in society was an instant cult hit, and we’re pleased to be showing Zack Snyder’s cut that restores over 20 minutes of material cut from the original theatrical release. Strap yourselves in for a dark night that takes you back 40 years to a 1985 where world events have panned out very differently…

About The Film

2009 | 18 | 186 mins

In 1985 (in an alternate timeline), a former vigilante going by the alias ‘The Comedian’ is brutally murdered in Manhattan. He was once a member of a costumed, crime-fighting group called The Watchmen - and now his former associates suspect that The Comedian will not be the only target of this mysterious killer.

Contains strong bloody violence, strong language, attempted rape
