“A fascinating look into the history of women’s suffrage with a potent array of our generation’s greatest actors doing what they do best.”
DOORS: 18:00 | EVENT BEGINS: 18:30
Join us for a screening of the acclaimed 2015 film Suffragette, a powerful historical drama that tells the story of the women who fought for the right to vote in early twentieth-century Britain. Inspired by real events, the film follows the courage, determination and personal sacrifices of those who challenged the status quo in pursuit of political equality.
While much of the story unfolds in London, Bristol has its own important place in the history of the women's suffrage movement. Local campaigners played a significant role in the fight for votes for women, with meetings, demonstrations and acts of protest taking place across the city. This screening offers an opportunity to experience the film while reflecting on Bristol's contribution to one of the most significant social and political movements in British history.
