Watching ‘The Craft’ is a rite of passage for young women [...] A must-see coming-of-age film
— Kristen Yoonsoo Kim (Complex)

DOORS: 18:30 | FILM STARTS 18:45

As the countdown to Halloween continues, we look forward to welcoming you to one of Bristol’s most dramatic venues – the stunning Mount Without! Formerly a church dating from the 15th Century, this recently revived creative space on St. Michael’s Hill boasts a rich history. Enjoy a drink in the Crypt, before watching films in the Grade-II listed nave, which has been stunningly restored to combine stained-glass windows and centuries-old masonry with a unique contemporary twist.

We’ve got a coming-of-age horror double bill at The Mount Without this Halloween, starting with a 30th anniversary screening of The Craft. This twisted tale of four outcast high school students who unite to channel their supernatural abilities - and form their very own witches’ coven - is a cult favourite and 90s culture touchstone, like some unholy blend of Clueless and Carrie. We can’t wait to bring the spellbinding sensation back to the big screen this October!

About The Film

1996 | 15 | 101 mins

Troubled teen Sarah moves from San Francisco to Los Angeles with her father and stepmother, where she quickly attracts the attention of three of her classmates, Nancy, Bonnie and Rochelle. The trio are self-proclaimed witches, but they believe that in order to truly tap into their powers, they need a fourth member of their group - and Sarah might just be the perfect fit…

Contains moderate horror, moderate violence, bad language, suicide references

About The Location

There has been a church on this site for over 900 years, with the original structure dating back to the Norman era; the unusual name comes from an era when it was outside the city’s walls. After major renovation works in the late 18th Century, and again after damage from the Bristol Blitz, the church finally closed its doors and was deconsecrated in 1999. The building was the victim of an arson attack in 2016, but after years of restoration work it has now reopened as one of Bristol’s most unique and characterful new event spaces.
