SOME LIKE IT HOT at Loco Klub

  • Loco Klub Clock Tower Yard Bristol, England, BS1 6QH United Kingdom (map)
The greatest comedy ever made [...] It is structured so meticulously that it glides from moment to moment with the elegance of an Olympic figure skater, and the consummate screwball dialogue is so polished that every line includes either a joke, a double meaning, or an allusion to a line elsewhere in the film
— Nicholas Barber (BBC Culture)

DOORS: 15:15 | FILM STARTS 16:00

We’re excited to be returning to the Loco Klub for Spring 2023 this after a successful debut event in November. This stunning events space beneath Temple Meads will play host to a hidden, subterranean cinema experience as we turn it into a speakeasy-style pop-up cinema, showing two great films set in the Jazz-soaked era of the Roaring Twenties. Join us in the private bar and enjoy live performers pre-film, then the curtain will be drawn back and you’ll be ushered deeper still into the tunnels for the main show…

Our first film this March is the screwball comic caper Some Like It Hot; the wickedly funny story of two cross-dressing jazz musicians on the run from the Mob brazenly defied the infamous strict morality rules of the Hays Code. With a swinging soundtrack and Marilyn Monroe at her very best, it’s still as riotously good fun over 60 years on as it was upon release!

About The Film

1959 | 12A | 121 mins

In Prohibition-era Chicago, jazz musicians Joe and Jerry inadvertently witness a mob shooting and are forced to flee the city. With the mafia hot on their tails, they disguise themselves as members of an all-female jazz band – but when their alter-egos start attracting romantic attention, their plan threatens to unravel…

Contains mild sex references, mild violence
