On This Day: Ingrid Bergman turns 110
Happy 110th Birthday to Ingrid Bergman!
Bergman was born on this day in Stockholm in 1915; her first film role was as an extra in a Swedish film in 1932, and her first English language role was in INTERMEZZO: A LOVE STORY, which premiered on 22nd September 1939.
Over her illustrious career she was nominated for seven Oscars, winning three:
🏆 Best Actress, GASLIGHT (1944)
🏆 Best Actress, ANASTASIA (1956)
🏆 Best Supporting Actress, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (1974)
Despite common misconception, she wasn’t even nominated for her iconic role as Isla Lund in CASABLANCA! She also won two Emmys and a Tony.
Bergman sadly passed away from breast cancer at midnight on 29th August 1982, her 67th birthday. She remains widely regarded as one of the greatest screen legends of all time, and one of the few celebrities to have been born and died on the same day of the year 📽🎞
