Back by popular demand after a sell-out run in 2019, we’re delighted to see the return of WALL•E! With its heart-warming story and deeper social message, this Oscar-winning animation is a hit with young and old alike. It will be preceded by a short Planetarium light show.
700 years after humankind abandons Earth, humble trash compactor robot WALL–E still goes about his tasks – however, he has developed sentience over the centuries, and has grown lonely. So when the unexpected arrival of a spacecraft disturbs his tranquil existence, WALL–E soon finds himself on an adventure that spans the galaxy.
THEY SAY: “WALL•E proves to this generation and beyond that the film medium’s only true boundaries are the human imagination. Writer/director Andrew Stanton and his team have created a classic screen character from a metal trash compactor who rides to the rescue of a planet buried in the debris that embodies the broken promise of American life. Not since Chaplin’s Little Tramp has so much story—so much emotion—been conveyed without words. When hope arrives in the form of a seedling, the film blossoms into one of the great screen romances as two robots remind audiences of the beating heart in all of us that yearns for humanity—and love—in the darkest of landscapes.” – American Film Institute, 2008
WE SAY: Pixar raised their own bar with this charming ninth feature-length outing. Brilliantly rendered and relying on its visuals over dialogue for large sections of the film, it can be read on deeper levels as a critique of consumerism and waste or simply enjoyed at face value as a glorious misadventure through space. A real modern classic!
