Clarice Starling (Foster), a trainee FBI agent, is pulled from her academy to interview former psychiatrist and notorious cannibal Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins), in the hope that he will help them uncover the identity of a serial killer famous for skinning his female victims.
Starring: Anthony Hopkins | Jodie Foster
Director: Jonathan Demme
Screenplay: Ted Tally
Producer: Kenneth Utt | Edward Saxman | Ron Bozman
THEY SAY: “When we get films as well done as this, with a central performance as spectacular as that of Hopkins, the cinema can be said to be far from done with yet. The Silence Of The Lambs has an edge to it that’s quite exceptional, but its central core is more memorable not for what it says but for how it says it.” (Derek Malcolm, The Guardian)
WE SAY: Due to restrictions during filming, Jodie Foster actually spoke to Anthony Hopkins very little – and as a result was as terrified of him as Hannibal Lecter as the film’s audience. Chilling, disturbing and with two stunning central performances, this is a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
