Horror In The Caves

Saturday 10th March | Doors: 21:00 |Film Start: 21:15 | Approx. end: 22:50

Join us for another season of cult cinema classics, screened deep within the Redcliffe Caves – it’s an unforgettable way to discover, or rediscover, some of the silver screen’s hidden gems, sleeper hits and genre favourites. Venture underground into one of the most unique locations in Bristol, themed like a military bunker specially for the occasion. Treat yourself to a beer onsite from our festival partners, Wickwar Wessex Brewing, and forget the outside world for a couple of hours…

Our late night Saturday slot plays host to a guest Horror In The Caves screening; we’re serving up the recent cannibal horror-drama Raw, which allegedly caused audience members to faint during the premiere…!

Please make sure that you have read the guidelines contained in the Important Information tab above before booking your tickets.

Justine (Garance Marillier) comes from a family of vets, and is starting veterinary college where her older sister Alexia (Ella Rumpf) currently studies. Justine is a vegetarian, but after being forced to consume meat during a hazing initiation, she develops an insatiable lust for flesh that not only puts her in conflict with Alexia but leads her to the brink of sanity as she contemplates committing unspeakable acts.

Starring: Garance Marillier | Ella Rumpf | Laurent Lucas | Rabat Naït Oufella
Director: Julia Ducournau
Screenplay: Julia Ducournau
Producer: Jean de Forêts

THEY SAY: “This intense French thriller on a student with taste for human flesh is a clever feminist parable – and a contender for best horror movie of the decade […] your appetite for smart, savvy, sick-as-f**k horror will be sated.” – David Fear, Rolling Stone, 2017

WE SAY: Despite its infamy due to the festival fainting incidents, to write Raw off as a cheap shock spatterfest is to do it a gross injustice. It’s an alluring coming-of-age story, albeit one interspersed with the stuff of nightmares. Certainly not one for the faint-hearted, but a rewarding experience for those brave enough to give it a taste.

  • Our stewards reserve the right to refuse entry to those who they believe to be under the appropriate age for each film’s BBFC certification who cannot produce photographic ID. Refunds will not be issued if somebody who fails to produce ID is subsequently refused entry to the venue. Please bear in mind that the Caves are an intense environment and may not be suitable for younger children, even if the film is PG rated – parental discretion is advised.
  • Due to the cave’s status as a protected environment, no food is permitted into the venue. Drinks will only be permitted into the venue in plastic containers. Personal alcohol supplies may not be brought into the Caves; the onsite bar will be selling several ales from the Wickwar Wessex range. Please bring ID as our stewards will operate a Challenge 25 policy.
  • Please be aware that drunken or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated in the caves. If an individual appears to be under the influence of alcohol, or is acting in a manner deemed inappropriate by our staff, they may be removed from the venue.
  • It is advisable to wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing in the caves as well as sturdy, appropriate footwear. The caves can be cold, particularly at night, and are uneven underfoot in places. • Please follow the instructions of onsite stewards at all times, and remain on the clearly designated paths. Failure to do so may result in your removal from the premises. In the case of an emergency, the event stewards are fully briefed and will instruct you on the necessary actions to take.
