Vintage Screenings combine fantastic films with themed wine tastings in Averys Wine Merchants’ wine cellars. Step into this historic space beneath Park Street for a glass of arrival bubbly, bread and cheese, then take your seats and enjoy a film accompanied by a mouth-watering selection of wines picked by Averys resident experts.

THEY SAY: “Every line, every ‘gag’, is a little masterpiece of wit […] Each character, and indeed every individual member of the lengthy cast, provides a gem of comedy acting at its highest and best” – Monthly Film Bulletin, 1949
WE SAY: Developed and released in the same year as Whisky Galore! and Kind Hearts And Coronets, Passport To Pimlico is a shining example of the brilliance of Ealing Studios’ output in the 1940s-50s. It wittily and warmly pokes fun at its subjects, but also captures the essence of the famous so-called “Blitz spirit” and makes subtle (and some not-so-subtle) commentary on post-war society.
