Love is in the air for our first Vintage Screening of 2020: a special Valentine’s Day Screening of the acclaimed rom-com Notting Hill.
Vintage Screenings combine fantastic films with themed wine tastings in Averys Wine Merchants’ wine cellars. Step into this historic space beneath Park Street for a glass of arrival bubbly, bread and cheese, then take your seats and enjoy a film accompanied by a mouth-watering selection of wines picked by Averys’ resident experts.
In keeping with the plot, this evening’s tasting will be a meeting of English and American wines, with a French inclusion to accompany La Mariée…!
We are delighted to be working with the incredible Flowers & Thorn, a Bristol-based independent chocolatier. Pre-order a beautiful box of their handmade Rose and Dark Chocolate Hearts below for a perfect Valentine’s Day treat! Each box contains 4 artisan hearts, made with 70% dark Ecuadorian chocolate and a touch of Persian rose essence.

THEY SAY: “A lovely warm-hearted romantic comedy, as well as being an elegant homage to Roman Holiday […] This film is Roberts’ career best to date” – The Guardian, 2019
WE SAY: How time flies – it’s hard to believe that this film is turning 21 this year! Notting Hill has helped spawn a thousand saccharine imitations over the past two decades, but it still remains a cornerstone of British comedy, as well as a genre-defining “rom-com”. Incidentally, director Roger Michell has a Bristol link – he was educated at Clifton College, where he wrote his first plays!
