Bristol Film Festival is delighted to be hosting two screenings for the Clifton College community as part of our Spring 2020 season!
On 12th March we’ll be bringing Martin McDonagh’s wickedly dark comedy-thriller In Bruges to the Newbolt Room for an intimate screening, in conjunction with our beer partners Wickwar Wessex Brewing. You’ll be sampling four of their real ales over the course of the evening, with half pints served out in brief intervals during the film alongside some tasting tips courtesy of the brewery team.
Your ticket includes:
After an assassination goes horribly awry, hitmen Ken and Ray are sent into hiding in the picturesque Belgian city of Bruges by their psychotic boss Harry. Initially instructed to lay low, Ken and Ray’s relationship becomes more complicated when the true motive behind their trip comes to light.
THEY SAY: “An endlessly surprising, very dark, human comedy, with a plot that cannot be foreseen but only relished. Every once in a while you find a film like this” – Roger Ebert, 2008
WE SAY: McDonagh may now be better known for his Oscar-winning dramedy Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, but his debut feature film still retains its bite, its emotion and its bleakly hilarious sense of humour. A riveting watch, making the most of its beautiful setting without ever feeling too much like a tourism advert – and three compelling performances from Gleeson, Farrell and Fiennes.
