Home Alone

1990 | PG | 103 mins

As the McAllister family prepare to leave their New York home to spend Christmas in Paris, their youngest son Kevin is accidentally left behind in the chaos. Alone in the house, Kevin initially enjoys his new found freedom, until he discovers that two con men plan to rob the McAllister home. He hatches a plan to defend the house from the robbers.

Starring: Macauley Culkin | Joe Pesci | Daniel Stern

Directed: Chris Columbus

Screenplay: John Hughes

Produced: John Hughes

THEY SAY: “Two decades after it dominated the international box office, the idea continues to carry an almost parasitic charm, as if the underlying subtext of young Kevin’s antics are like devices of adamant rebellion that refuse to fade quietly into the night.” – David Keyes, Cinemaphile, 2015

WE SAY: This John-Hughes penned home invasion parody has long been regarded as a cult classic, and a staple of the Christmas movie marathon. Fun fact: it was one of the first movies directed by Chris Columbus, who went on to direct the first three Harry Potter films.
