We’re delighted to be partnering with Aerospace Bristol to present our inaugural event at their visitor centre on Filton’s historic airbase, with a unique screening of Airplane! underneath Concorde itself. This iconic plane is the last of its kind to be built and the last to fly; it ended its journey in Bristol and is now displayed in a custom-built hangar, and tonight’s attendees will have the opportunity to look onboard prior to the film starting.
Airplane! itself is one of the all-time comedy movie greats – endlessly quotable, with an ensemble cast rattling through one-liners and visual gags at supersonic speed, it’s a deserved cult classic. Against the stunning backdrop of Concorde, this promises to be a showing unlike any other, and certainly not a flight to be missed.
Ted Striker, a traumatised fighter pilot veteran, desperately boards a flight in an attempt to win back his estranged flight attendant girlfriend. However, when a food poisoning outbreak incapacitates the flight team and many of the passengers, Ted is forced to confront his demons and take control in order to save the plane, and everyone else on board.

THEY SAY: “Surely as good as modern comedy gets (and don’t call me Shirley) […] Frankly, if you’re not laughing, get checked out for lockjaw” Adam Smith, Empire, 2015
WE SAY: The hype surrounding Airplane! is still deserved, after almost four decades since its release; what better setting to discover, or rediscover, this classic than Aerospace Bristol, next to one of the true icons of aviation at the birthplace of supersonic travel.
